Youth Group

Green Mountain United Methodist Church

We are committed to FUN, FAITH, and GROWTH.

We want you to come just as you are and feel comfortable and included.  Most Youth times are all about fun, energetic games and meaningful conversations.  We build friendships and make a real difference in our community through acts of service.  We want to support you in your faith journey and allow you to explore what you believe without pressure or judgment.  We believe in putting our faith in action, connecting with others, and loving one another.  Together we create memories to last a lifetime.  If you have any questions or you need anything, feel free to connect with us.

Mission Project 2024

Theme: Help in Healing

We have so many people in our congregation and in our lives who are battling cancer.  This project is all about offering our love and our help in their time of healing.  We will be putting together Busy Bags for people who are undergoing cancer treatments and kids who are undergoing long-term stays for treatments at Children's Hospital.

Screwtape Programs

November 5th:

Entitlement

We are doing a series of programs based loosely off C.S. Lewis's The Screwtape Letters.  These programs cover a variety of topics and how they relate to teens.  We just finished programs on the challenges of church, dealing with istractions, and exploring Christians and Jesus.  Upcoming programs: Entitlement, Enjoying Life and Relationships.

Fall Kick Off

September:

Zoom Party

We will kick off the year with fun games over Zoom.  If COVID-19 concerns are no longer an issue, we will revisit this plan.  For now, we will plan on a virtual night of connection, laughter, and ridiculousness!!  Party Time is coming soon!

Virtual Games

Youth Group in a Bag

While we have been in quarantine, we have been doing Youth Group in a Bag.  Alex has brought snacks, activities, and challenges to the youth as they shelter in place.  Check out the videos for the footage and for inspiring messages found in the community.

Lock-In at the Church

We lock ourselves in at the church to play games, eat together, and watch a movie before sleeping in sleeping bags in the Youth Room.  The next morning we go to church together for worship.

Boondocks Outing

Every year we take a night to go play at Boondocks Fun Center.  We ride go-karts, play putt-putt golf, spray each other with the bumper boats, bowl, team up for laser tag, and play arcade games.  The fun never ends!

Outreach Shopping

When the holiday season comes around, the Youth Group shops for those who cannot afford to.  In 2018, we went grocery shopping and created 11 Thanksgiving baskets for families in need.  Last year we went shopping for 7 children on the Salvation Army Angel Tree.

Youth Sunday

The Youth Group produces a Youth Sunday service each year.  Complete with music, ushering, greeting, liturgy, and a message, the Youth run the service.  We value the voices of our youth and offer public speaking opportunities.

Mission Trip

In 2019, we went with Group Workcamps Week of Hope in Loveland, CO to serve the homeless community, adults who were disabled, and children with disabilities.  We had planned on going on a Mission Trip to Colorado Springs with Next Step Ministries in 2020.  COVID-19 delayed all trips, but we'll plan another Mission Trip for 2021.

Spotify Playlist

Here is a link to a free music playlist on Spotify the app.  The Have Faith playlist has uplifting and moving songs to get us through the pandemic.

YouTube Content

Check out some of our YouTube content.  These videos explore prayer through a past Youth Sunday message.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?

Come as you are

We usually meet on Sunday mornings from 10:15 - 11:30 am at the church.  We have a teen-friendly Youth Room with foosball, couches, a pool table, air hockey, and snacks.  For programs, we usually start with a couple games and then explore discussion questions on teen topics such as: bullying, social media, stress management, self-esteem, and more.  Then we conclude the program with devotions as an opportunity to share our highs and lows and ask for prayers.  At times we change the day or time of Youth Group for outings and special events.  Join us for all kinds of safe shenanigans.

OUR AWESOME TEAM
